FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rockton Lions Club to Build Paved Walking Path at Beverly Community Centre

Rockton, ON – March 27, 2025 – The Rockton Lions Club is proud to announce the development of a paved walking path at the Beverly Community Centre, with the approval of the City of Hamilton and the support of Ward 13 Councillor Alex Wilson. This new path will provide a safe and accessible space for residents to stay active, fostering a healthier and more connected community.

The path will also serve as a vital link between key local amenities, connecting Rockton Elementary School, the Beverly Community Centre (arena), tennis courts, baseball diamond, and play structure.

As the Rockton Lions Club celebrates its 60th charter anniversary, this project represents a meaningful milestone in the club’s longstanding commitment to enhancing community life.

“The Rockton Lions Club is dedicated to improving our surroundings, and we recognize the need for safe, accessible spaces for exercise and connection,” said John Galer, Committee Chair of the Rockton Lions Club Path Committee. “With this new walking path, we are making it easier for residents of all ages to enjoy outdoor activity safely.”

Councillor Alex Wilson has been instrumental in supporting the project and ensuring its alignment with the City of Hamilton’s wellness initiatives.

“This walking path is a significant step forward in improving local infrastructure and promoting active living,” said Councillor Wilson. “I’m proud to support the Rockton Lions Club in bringing this much-needed resource to our neighbourhood.”

The Rockton Lions Club would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Lafarge for their generous donation of materials, which has played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. Their contribution exemplifies the spirit of community collaboration and commitment to improving local amenities for all residents.

To further support the creation of this path, the Rockton Lions Club is welcoming donations. Contributors will be recognized on a commemorative donor plaque and through memorial benches placed along the pathway—creating a lasting tribute to those who support this important initiative.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May, with completion expected by June.
Join us in celebrating this community achievement at the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, June 14, from 1–3 PM. Enjoy a BBQ and walk the path with us!
